InsideOut Music
Stoner Rock/Metal

My love affair with Spiritual Beggars started back in 2010 when ex-Firewind singer Apollo Papathanasio joined the lineup, with myself being a fan of his works while he was in Firewind. While Return to Zero was a simple, rather straightforward hard rock album, Earth Blues saw Spiritual Beggars incorporate some elements of psychedelia into their sound, which left me rather excited when the band announced their ninth full length album earlier this year, Sunrise to Sundown. The beautiful artwork hinted towards an even more psychedelic direction, but is it a hint towards the band’s musical direction?

ARCH ENEMY Releases New Version Of ‘Stolen Life’ Featuring Guitarist JEFF LOOMIS

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

The official video for the song “Stolen Life” (2015 version) from Swedish / Canadian / American metallers ARCH ENEMY can be seen below. This brand-new version of the track, which has just been made available digitally, features additional lead/solo parts by new ARCH ENEMY guitarist Jeff Loomis (formerly of NEVERMORE).

The “Stolen Life” video was directed and produced by Carlos Toro V. of Abysmo Films. It was filmed in Chile during ARCH ENEMY‘s early 2015 tour of South America.

The original version of “Stolen Life” can be found on ARCH ENEMY‘s latest album, “War Eternal”, which sold around 8,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 44. The CD was released on June 10, 2014 in North America via Century Media Records. The cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.

Comments ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott: “I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since we released the ‘War Eternal’ album! Time flies when you’re having fun, huh?!

“We’re just starting up our summer tour here in Europe and there’s still a long way to go — we’re booked up ’till Christmas!

“There has been such an amazing reaction to the new music and lineup and it is really keeping us motivated.

“Having Jeff Loomis out with us on the road is fantastic. A fine player and a true gentleman. I’m super happy that he could throw down a couple of leads on this new exciting version of ‘Stolen Life’; it really adds some new fire to the song.

“On our recent tour in Latin America, we had the opportunity to film a video for our new single. It was a really good experience working with the talented Abysmo team and I’m more than happy with the end result!”

ARCH ENEMY in November 2014 parted ways with guitarist Nick Cordle and replaced him with Loomis. Loomis made his live debut with ARCH ENEMY on the band’s most recent European tour.

ARCH ENEMY played its first show with singer Alissa White-Gluz in May 2014 in Bucharest, Romania. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now-classic “Wages Of Sin” (2001), stepped down as frontwoman and is focusing on management, while Alissa is taking her place.

ARCH ENEMY Parts Ways With NICK CORDLE, Recruits Ex-NEVERMORE Guitarist JEFF LOOMIS

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

ARCH ENEMY has parted ways with guitarist Nick Cordle and has replaced him with Jeff Loomis (pictured; ex-NEVERMORE). Loomis will make his live debut with ARCH ENEMY on the band’s upcoming European tour, which kicks off November 26.

Says Loomis: “I’m very excited to be playing with ARCH ENEMY.

“[ARCH ENEMY guitarist] Michael Amott and I have stayed in contact over the years since we toured together when I was playing in NEVERMORE. Not only do I admire his guitar playing and songwriting, but I also consider him a close friend. To be able to share the stage with Michael, Sharlee, Daniel and Alissa is something I’m really looking forward to.

“2015 is going to be a great year… See you all on tour!”

Says Cordle: “With [the latest ARCH ENEMY album] ‘War Eternal’ I believe we wrote an album together which will stand the test of time, and I wish them well for the future.”

U.S. fans will be able to catch a special reunion as Christopher Amott (the brother of ARCH ENEMY founder/bandleader Michael Amott) has joined the band for the remainder of their American headlining tour.

Says Michael Amott: “We all wish Nick the very best in his new endeavors and we are sure that you will hear much more from him. We’re also super grateful to my brother Christopher for stepping in to finish the current American tour!

“The prospect of working with Jeff Loomis moving forward is truly awesome!

Jeff Loomis is one of the best guitar players in the metal world, in my opinion, as well as being a longtime friend. I look forward to tearing it up on stages around the world together as we continue on the ‘War Eternal’ touring cycle throughout all next year and beyond!”

ARCH ENEMY played its first show with new singer Alissa White-Gluz on May 23 at Turbohalle in Bucharest, Romania. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now-classic “Wages Of Sin” (2001), has stepped down as frontwoman and will focus on management, while Alissa takes her place.

ARCH ENEMY And KREATOR Announce Split 7″ For North American Tour

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

This October/November, Swedish / American / Canadian metal icons ARCH ENEMY will return to North American soil to tour in support of their critically acclaimed new album, “War Eternal”. To celebrate this momentous headlining trek, the band will release a split seven-inch single with German thrash metal veterans KREATOR, who will provide direct support on the run. The exclusive transparent red seven-inch single (limited to 500 copies) will be available at the merchandise table; a dark red seven-inch single (limited to 500 copies) will also be available on KREATOR and ARCH ENEMY‘s European tour, which sees ARCH ENEMY as direct support.

ARCH ENEMY/KREATOR split seven-inch track listing:

Side A – ARCH ENEMY

01. Breaking The Law (JUDAS PRIEST cover)

Side B – KREATOR

01. Iron Destiny

ARCH ENEMY‘s Michael Amott (guitar) comments: “Super excited about the upcoming tours in Europe and USA with KREATOR, and it’s really cool to have this split vinyl seven-inch single coming out to celebrate the extreme metal party of the year!

“Covering the JUDAS PRIEST classic ‘Breaking The Law’ is obviously not the most original idea, but this is a heavily rearranged version that sounds very ARCH ENEMY, and anyhow, there’s no denying that the mighty PRIEST is a great influence on ARCH ENEMY.

“Enjoy this unique and limited KREATOR/ARCH ENEMY release and see you on the road!”

KREATOR‘s Mille Petrozza (vocals, guitar) adds: “Finally, after all these years, ARCH ENEMY and KREATOR not only tour together, but will also release a split single!

“I have always been a fan of this stuff since these are special little collector’s items.

“We chose the song ‘Iron Destiny’ for this. Lyrically, this is a tribute to the early days of the band, the days when we were young metalheads, discovering the music that we still love to this day.

KREATOR is looking forward to this run and we hope to see all of you!”

ARCH ENEMY: ‘No More Regrets’ Video Premiere

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

“No More Regrets”, the new video from Swedish / American / Canadian metallers ARCH ENEMY, can be seen below. The song is taken from the band’s new album, “War Eternal”, which is being released today (June 10) in North America via Century Media Records. The cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu.

ARCH ENEMY played its first show with new singer Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of THE AGONIST, on May 23 at Turbohalle in Bucharest, Romania. Angela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now-classic “Wages Of Sin” (2001), has stepped down as frontwoman and will focus on management, while Alissa takes her place.

In a recent interview with Turk GitarARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott stated about Angela‘s exit from ARCH ENEMY: “It was a sudden change for the fans; we know that. But, of course, these kind of big steps in life don’t come easily, and I believe this was a gradual thing that kept growing in Angela‘s mind for some time.

“We had decided to take 2013 off from the road and any sort of band activity. The only thing we were doing was writing music and also there always the plan to go into the studio and record at the end of 2013. As the scheduled recording time got closer, Angela informed us last year that she would definitely be stepping down from her position in the band.

“To be honest, it was not such a huge surprise to the rest of us, as there were a lot of conversations of that nature leading up to that point. I made the changes in the band that were necessary for ARCH ENEMY to continue and keep the music alive.”

Regarding Alissa‘s more versatile vocal approach compared to that of GossowAmott said: “Alissa has many different vocal styles that she can do very well… She is much more versatile in that aspect than Angela. But for ARCH ENEMY, we are sticking with the aggressive vocal style that we are known for.

“When I started the band in 1995, I had the idea to make the most heavy melodic band of all time, combining elements of extreme death metal heaviness and thrash speed alongside traditional heavy metal and hard rock influences with the harmonies, melodies and solos. We are very much staying true to these roots of the band on ‘War Eternal’.”

Speaking to Metal UndergroundAlissa had the following to say about “War Eternal”: “The circumstances surrounding the creation of this album, writing the lyrics and recording it, I’m just happy to have it finally come out. I think people are going to like it. The production quality is amazing! I always wanted an album that would sound this full. I’m a really big fan of this album, myself. Even if I weren’t in the band and ARCH ENEMY put out this album, I would pick it up and say it’s great. I’m really excited.”

On the topic of the new album title, Alissa said: “This album ended up being a lot more personal than maybe some of my previous or Michael‘s previous lyrics. In the past, a topic like war or a political or global issue was what we normally wrote about. We were writing in two different bands, but we happen to have similar topics in our writing. Then when we were writing for this album, we had a collection of lyrics for this album, but we found that we were actually writing on similar things. Fighting the ongoing war in your day-to-day life, everybody has their battle going on that nobody else knows about. And then there are song titles like ‘Never Forgive, Never Forget’ and on and on, I think it ties in very nicely. It wasn’t something we planned out, but that is the way it turned out, so it worked out really nicely. I think we really saw eye to eye and were experiencing similar things in our lives, so we ended up writing about the same topics even though we have different styles of writing lyrics.”

ARCH ENEMY: ‘As The Pages Burn’ Lyric Video Released

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

The official lyric video for the song “As The Pages Burn” from Swedish / American / Canadian metallers ARCH ENEMY can be seen below. The track is taken from the band’s ninth studio album, “War Eternal”, which will be released in North America on June 10 via Century Media Records.

“War Eternal” will introduce a new member to ARCH ENEMY‘s ranks: Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers THE AGONISTAngela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now classic “Wages Of Sin” (2001), has stepped down as frontwoman and will focus on management, while Alissa takes her place.

Says ARCH ENEMY chief songwriter and guitarist Michael Amott: “‘As The Pages Burn’ almost goes back to the style of writing that I had in the late ’90s. It’s very old-school ARCH ENEMY with an almost SLAYER vibe in the intro/verse and a huge melodic chorus. A bit like ‘The Immortal’ and other ARCH ENEMY classics of that time. The middle section is very classical music-inspired — a twin-guitar part that is a lot fun to play.

Alissa wrote the lyrics for the song.

“This song is an example of what I love about collaborating — in the songwriting, I’m giving her the instrumental, and she comes from a different background, and the two different approaches merge together to form a very interesting result that blew my mind. It’s one of my favorite tracks on the album.”

Adds Alissa White-Gluz: “‘As The Pages Burn’ is also one of my favorite songs. I think it’s going to be a very fun song to perform live.

“I really like fast-paced, energetic songs. A lot of the lyrics on the album are coming straight from my brain during sleepless nights.

“I often wake up in the middle of the night from horrible nightmares and just start writing songs. For whatever reason, I like the lyrics that I get that way; they feel real and uncensored.

“This song is one that I wrote at 4 a.m. in the dark, half asleep. In the morning I woke up and thought, ‘This is cool, I’m going to use this, and I know just the music to put it to.’ The musical dynamics in the song are very satisfying to sing to as well. I hope you like it!”

“War Eternal” track listing:

01. Tempore Nihil Sanat (Prelude In F Minor)
02. Never Forgive, Never Forget
03. War Eternal
04. As The Pages Burn
05. No More Regrets
06. You Will Know My Name
07. Graveyard Of Dreams
08. Stolen Life
09. Time Is Black
10. On And On
11. Avalanche
12. Down To Nothing
13. Not Long For This World

The cover artwork was created by Costin Chioreanu and can be seen below.

The “War Eternal” video was directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company, who has previously worked with DIMMU BORGIRLACUNA COILIN FLAMESSONIC SYNDICATE and KAMELOT, among others.

Alissa White-Gluz previously stated about her addition to the ARCH ENEMY lineup: “I am very honored and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career beginning now; I have joined forces with one of my all-time favourite and globally respected bands, ARCH ENEMY‘Wages Of Sin’ was the first metal album I ever bought, and it was love at first listen.

“It is not often that you get a phone call from your favorite band asking you to join! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such amazingly talented musicians whom I also consider great friends. I look forward to being able to write and perform at a whole new level now with ARCH ENEMY! Music is forever, metal is limitless and this is only the beginning!”

“War Eternal” was mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, PARADISE LOSTKREATOR) at Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden.

ARCH ENEMY will debut new material on a short eastern European tour before the album is released; this trek will then be followed by an extensive run of European summer festivals, including Sweden Rock FestivalWacken Open Air and many more. A full headlining tour in North America and Europe will take place in fall/winter 2014.

ARCH ENEMY Parts Ways With Singer ANGELA GOSSOW, Recruits THE AGONIST’s ALISSA WHITE-GLUZ

Reposted from Blabbermouth.net

In early June, ARCH ENEMY will unleash its ninth studio album, “War Eternal”, worldwide via Century Media Records and Trooper Entertainment in Japan. With this upcoming release, the band will introduce a new member to their ranks: Alissa White-Gluz, former vocalist of Canadian extreme metallers THE AGONISTAngela Gossow, who joined ARCH ENEMY in 2000 and made her debut on the now classic “Wages Of Sin” (2001), will be stepping down as frontwoman and focusing on management, while Alissa takes her place.

Gossow comments: “Dear ARCH ENEMY fans, this is not easy to tell you… I have decided to step down from being ARCH ENEMY‘s voice of anger.

“After 13 years of pure fucking metal, 6 studio albums and countless tours through five continents, I feel the need to enter a different phase in my life, be with my family and pursue other interests. I will, however, remain business manager for ARCH ENEMY, and I will continue to develop my artist management roster.

“I am staying true to my heavy metal roots, just leaving the spotlight, so to speak. I am passing the torch to the super talented Alissa White-Gluz, whom I’ve known as a dear friend and a superb vocalist for many years. I always thought she deserved a chance to shine — and now she’s getting it. Just like I got that chance back in 2001.

“I want to thank all ARCH ENEMY fans, our labels Century Media (worldwide) and Trooper Entertainment (Japan), our dedicated road crew, and in particular MichaelDaniel and Sharlee for their love and support throughout all these years. It’s been one hell of a ride! We conquered every situation, made it through thick and thin together in the most exciting and rewarding time of my life. Thank you all for being there with me on stage, in front of the stage, and backstage. You have touched my heart, and I hope I was able to give something back to you. I am grateful for the wonderful memories – I will cherish them forever!

“I am looking forward to the next decade of ARCH ENEMY madness! Right now I am listening through rough mixes of the new studio album and I am blown away! 2014 will see a renewed ARCH ENEMY at the top of their game.

“I am proud to be part of this ARCH ENEMY chapter, albeit in a different way — revving up the engines behind the scenes.

“I hope to see you in front of the stage; I will join you there this time. Let the killing begin, once again!”

Alissa White-Gluz comments: “I am very honoured and happy to announce a new chapter in my life and musical career beginning now; I have joined forces with one of my all-time favourite and globally respected bands, ARCH ENEMY‘Wages Of Sin’ was the first metal album I ever bought, and it was love at first listen.

Chief songwriter and band leader Michael Amott, who founded ARCH ENEMY in 1995, comments: “We are eternally grateful to Angela for all her passion, hard work and talent. Her legacy is tremendous and will always be a big part of the band’s history. We feel great pride in what has been achieved in the past, but also look forward to new battles and new victories. We welcome Alissa with open arms — and we hope you will have open ears. We might have just created our most wicked metal opus yet with our upcoming album, ‘War Eternal’!”

“War Eternal” was mixed by Jens Bogren (OPETH, PARADISE LOSTKREATOR) at Fascination Street in Örebro, Sweden for a June release via Century Media REcords.

Comments ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott: “We’ve been producing ourselves, as we did on [2011’s] ‘Khaos Legions’.

“We have a clear vision of what we want ARCH ENEMY to sound like, and we can actually achieve it without the help of outside producers. We also have the advantage of having two talented sound engineers among our ranks in Daniel Erlandsson (drums) and Nick Cordle (guitar).

“We’ve been tracking at a few different studios here in Sweden — the drums at Fascination Street Studio and guitars and bass in another room. We just finished vocals in a third studio with engineer Staffan Karlsson (‘Khaos Legions’) and the mix and mastering will done by Jens Bogren at his Fascination Street mixing facility.

“Musically, this album is going a few places we haven’t visited before. As our fans have come expect, our albums have all had their own vibe and ‘War Eternal’ will leave its own mark. Lyrically, it’s a much more personal record, and I feel the songs have more dynamics and depth than ever before. The songs are loaded with strong and vicious metal, drenched in tons of melody and emotion. All the trademarks of ARCH ENEMY are present, just more in your face and turned up to 11.”.

Regarding the new CD title, Michael says: “A lot of times life is a struggle, a war against what I like to call ‘mental chains’ in society that try to prevent you from living life the way you want, that try to stop you from making your dreams come true. I have always resented that and I always will. The title sums up our collective attitude a band as well; stages will be destroyed, eardrums will bleed. There will be no choice. This, ladies and gentlemen, is ‘War Eternal’…”

“Khaos Legions” sold around 6,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 78.

The band in 2012 amicably parted ways with guitarist Christopher Amott and replaced him with American musician Nick Cordle (ARSIS).

On March 20, ARCH ENEMY will present the video for the album’s title track, “War Eternal”.
