Mumbai based death/thrash outfit Devoid recently released a new track titled God Complex. The band has played the song live a couple of times including debut edition of the BIG69 Festival in Mumbai which featured bands such as Carcass, Fleshgod Apocalypse Hactivist & a plethora of Indian metal bands.
Arun Iyer, Vocalist & Rhythm Guitarist of Devoid elaborates the concept of the song “A god complex can be summarised as an unshakable belief characterized by consistently inflated feelings of personal ability, privilege, or infallibility. The individual may regard their personal opinions as unquestionably correct or disregard the rules of society and require special consideration or privileges. The songs will have a common central stem in which these stories and afflictions will branch out to become a tree of human devolution.
Talking about the song in the bigger scheme of an album, he further said “We are taking our time to conceptualise and iron out the wrinkles in the already written songs and also taking liberty in expanding our song writing method. In this year we hope to release a few more singles before we tackle the production of the album. I have a concept I am fiddling with and if it materialises the way I envision it then the album will be well worth the time”
