South American black/death metal horde Sacrocurse returns this year after their highly acclaimed demo Sulphur Blessing with their debut full length album, Unholier Master. With the band boasting former member of such acts as Morbosidad and Unholier, fans of the bestial style of extreme metal will instantly know what they are in for with Unholier Master.

Without wasting any time at all, Sacrocurse kicks off the album with Sepulchral Desolation, and the speed and barbarism that is evident on the track quickly reminds one of the thrashy black/death endeavours of bands such as Impiety and the likes. The chaotic onslaught that the band presents on the album through that wall of noise that hits the listener and that chaotic lead guitars of ZK also instantly brings to mind the filthy style that bands such as Morbosidad and Blasphemophagher have created and popularised. The relentless blasting of LZ throughout the record also bear some James Read resemblance, sure to please fans of his works, along with Black Witchery or Deiphago.

On top of the speed fest that is already present on Unholier Master, the band also includes some moments of heavy, crushing intensity that leans closer to the style that band such as Teitanblood and Antediluvian indulge in, preventing Unholier Master from being a one-dimensional blast-fest, at the same time giving the listener a sense of doom and unease throughout the album.

For fans of extreme metal looking for a nice fusion of Canadian belligerence, along with South American bestiality, Sacrocurse‘s debut album Unholier Master will definitely be a pleaser.
